Take your morning routine to the next level
Tongue scraping is an Ayurvedic practice done in the morning to help remove toxins that have accumulated on the tongue overnight. Usually this is completed in the morning on an empty stomach after the digestive process has occurred throughout the night.
Copper is a great metal for tongue scraping because it seems to be toxic to the bad bacteria in the mouth but it can also provide important enzymes that are needed for the healthy microbes of the mouth to survive too. Copper has acknowledged antimicrobial and antiseptic benefits making it more likely to resist bacterial accumulation while it’s not being used. We recommend changing your copper tongue scraper routinely (every 6 months or so) see cleaning & maintenance instructions in the downloadable PDF at the bottom of the page.
Potential Benefits:
Can help improve bad breath
Can improve sense of taste
Can support digestion by increasing the function of the taste buds
Can support oral and overall health by reducing undesirable bacteria in the mouth that can compromise teeth, gum and oral health.
Can reduce bacterial load in mouth
How to:
Scrape, brush, Scrape
For best results use within the first 3-7 minutes upon waking, before you drink or eat.
Rinse tongue scraper
Draw the scraper from the back of the tongue to the front in one smooth movement & rinse the removed coating into the sink.
The pressure is even and moderate (not too soft not too hard) we don’t want to harm our tongue or taste buds.
Adapt to your needs, to avoid gagging or vomiting don’t place the scraper too far back.
Reapeat the motion 5-10 times, as desired.
Brush teeth as normal
I do one more scrape afterwards to remove anything that may have been loosened when brushing.
Rinse, dry scraper and store until tomorrow morning.
You could then follow with oil pulling if that is part of your oral hygiene routine.
That’s it ! Simple quick and effective.
