please note
Each piece is unique with subtle variances in tone, so no two are the same, just like there’s no other YOU on the planet. Please note that the dye will inevitably shift and change with washing and sun exposure, gradually softening the colour over time. This is the intended nature of the garment as it is 100% botanically dyed, therefore subject to the laws of change. To support this journey however we highly recommend following our care instructions.
Threads are triple-washed with fresh water and soapnut suds to reduce colour bleeding and fading. Care for your naturally dyed products by washing with a gentle cleanser or soap nut suds, by hand or on a gentle wash and air dry in the shade.
Keep out of direct sunlight to avoid uneven colour fading.

Rasa (Taste): Kashaya (astringent) & Tikta (bitter)
Guna (Qualities): Guru (heavy) & Rooksha (dry)
Dosha Action: Kapha & Pitta pacifying
Our artisans also recite an invocation of the Gayatri mantra over each dye bath.
the details
This piece is plant dyed and long soaked in a herbal bath to transform this garment into herbs you can wear! The raw organic cotton is dyed by artisans using traditional Ayurvastra methods by hand.
“A healthy lifestyle includes what you wear”
As a society we are learning about the effects of synthetic clothing, with research showing endocrine disruption and cancer causing compounds in synthetic fibres. Organic natural fibres are the best option, no doubt, but what about the dye?
Synthetic dyes are widely used by the textile industry, containing things such as:
Certain Azo dyes (Linked to skin irritation, dermatitis and long term carcinogenic risk)
Formaldehyde (Exposure to this substance is linked to cancer)
Heavy metals (Exposure may lead to skin irritation, cellular stress and accumulation in organs)
Organotin compounds (Potentially hormone disrupting and immune system impairing)
Chlorobenzenes (May effect the liver, thyroid and central nervous system)
At suntè we use natural, botanical dye, made from plants or OEKO - Tex certified dye which is formaldehyde free
Ponder this, if chemicals in synthetic dyes can be absorbed by the body, could we absorb the herbal benefits found in botanical dyes?
“Herbal wear allows us to utilise the intelligence of herbs and plants and invite them in through dermal application and the skin’s absorption.”
Our dye baths also include a blend of Ayurvedic herbs, carefully selected for an intended purpose. For example in this current collection we have chosen herbs that have a warming constitution.
We believe this approach to clothing is better for our bodies and better for our planet. The plant fabric and dyes can even safely return to the soil when they are no longer able to be worn.

As these products are 100% wool, woolen care is required. To shrink the natural fibres and reshape the beanie if it becomes loose soak the beanie in warm water with mild soap, soak for 10-20 minutes to relax fibre. Press out water with a towel, do not twist or wring fabric. Reshape before drying by laying flat and pushing fibres back inward together. Leave to air dry away from direct sunlight or heat.
